I learned that if there is not a variable there, you put a zero. I did not learn anything else

I leared that I'd there is a variable missin u add it to the problem. Ex two x cubed and 2x +3. U have to add two X squared to the problem. IM better at them now

You add terms with the missing variables and use zeros in their place. Why do you need to replace them?
