The policy is put in place to prevent students from getting of topic from there learning and school work. Here at Petoskey middle school if you get caught once you get a warning, next you get it taken away, up until the point where you can get suspended.

I learned that no one has the right to interfere with the learning and saftey of others. I also learned that in 4 cities of England, they banned phones. Test scores from the students around the age of 16. Their average scores increased by 6.4%

Despite phones being viewed as products to help us in life, the hinder us in our school studies due to them distracting us. When phones were banned in schools in England, grades rose and it added a total of 5 extra days to school. It mainly helped struggling students, but helped everyone overall. Petoskey is one of the schools not allowing phones, punishments being dealt out when those rules are broken. The punishments are: warning, then its sent down to the office for you to pick up, then it has to be picked up by a parent, then you are sent to the office for discipline.

I learned that schools that don’t put a ban on phones have to go to school for an extra 5 days that could have been avoided.another thing that I learned is that schools with a ban on phones do better than schools without a ban. This is because the schools with out a ban can get easily distracted. And the biggest Improvement is from the kids on there phone too much and with not so good grades.

The PHS does not allow phones in our math classes without permission from our teachers. But if you are caught then there is is consequence. If you are caught once then you get a warning. If you are caught twice then it will be sent to the office to turn in. If you are 3 times then it is sent to the office to turn in and a parent or guardian has to pick it up. But if you are caught 4 times then it is went to the office and you get a progressive discipline. They set this rules because it increases the student performances. Those are why we have no cell phone policy.

We use this policy because its shown that it improves scores and focus. Taking away phones is equivalent to having 5 extra school days or 1 extra hour of school. There are consequences for not following the policy. These consequences are 1. A warning 2. Phone turned into the office 3. Phone turned into the office and a parent/guardian must pick it up 4. Sent to office and progressive discipline. So phones aren't allowed in PHS math classes unless given permission by the teacher.

We use the mobile phone policy because it helps improve our focus. If we were allowed our phones most people would be on their phones for an equivalent of 5 days or 1 hour. When phones were banned test scores increased. There are punishments like getting a warning, your phone taken away, and even a lunch detention. That’s why we have the no mobile phone policy

We have the no phone policy because it has been proven in the U.K. that it improves kid's brains by 5 extra days. The first offense for having your phone is only a warning. The second offense is having your phone sent to the office. The third offense is having it sent to the office but a parent or guardian has to sign it out. The fourth offense is having it sent to the office with progressive disipline. You can avoid all this trouble, as long as the teacher says its ok to use your phone.

The PHS math department has a strict no cell phone policy. if you get caught you get a warning. If you get caught again you get sent to the office and turn in your phone. if you get caught again you go to the office and turn your phone and a parent is called in to pick up. We use this policy because research shows that it distracts students tremendously from there work, and allows them to go on social media, games and more.

If you get caught a second time you get sent to the office. If you get caught a third time you have to give it the office and your parents have to pick it up. The fourth time you get sent to the office with a progressive disiplin note. To avoid this dont use your phone in class unless teacher alows them

Should phone be a part of class rooms? I do not thinks so even if it does raise test scores is it worth the price others have to pay? Kids who do not have phones are at a disadvantage because they are behind in class yes they can go in the morning or after school Wrong I for know that my parents work 8 to 4 and can not do that even if they could my parents are not prepared to spend that gas money on something that could be a paper assignment. What about lunch yes most kids can do this but is it fair to make kids spend their lunch time in the library just because the are not econmicly set. This is why I do not think phones in class is a good idea and I also know that my mom will exuse me from any further online assignments.

RECAP OF THE CELL PHONE POLICY: you will get a warning first if caught, then it will be sent to the office, then it will be sent to the office to be picked up by parents, and THEN there will be progressive punishment. Do not waste 5 days worth of information being on your phone! It is not a smart idea.... If you are caught, when you are not allowed obviously, you will get a warning and then all that stuff! So don't be a phone bone in school.

When reading the electronics policy for Mr. Harris room, i learned that your first offense with your electronics is a warning. Your second offense you will have to send your phone to the office. Your third offense you will have to send your phone to the office and have a parent pick it up. And finally you will be sent to the office and a further punishment will be contemplated. With reading this policy I learned not to use your phone in class.

I have learned from reading the policy and the article about the schools in England that cell phones are a very big distraction. At the petoskey high school we use our cellphone policy to keep us and others safe. Cell phones are a big distraction to you and others around you. And now a days students use their phones to Solve problems instead of work them out. I learned that in England they band phones and test scores increased by 6.4%! For the petoskey Highschool there are consequences to being caught with you’re phone, if are caught 4 times then it is went to the office and you get a progressive discipline.

After looking over the cell phone policy and how it has been studied to affect students performance, to summerize all of this up it would be that you are aloud to use your phone in class on certain days where you need it and if you get permission, other whise it is prohibited in classes. The procedure for getting fought eith your phone without permission is 1st is a warning, 2nd you send it down to the office, 3rd your parents are called, 4th sent to office progressive discipline. And with the studies from the UK it shows that when phones were banned from the classes students did signifigently better in there classes and assignments.

After reading the rules for electronics in classrooms, i have reaffirmed that NO ELECTONICS in the classrooms. Unless you are told they can be out, of course. If you arnt, then devices stay away. First time caught, you get a warnin, then you get sent to the office, then you get sent to the office with a parent conference, then you get punishment from the principle and vice principal. Devices should NOT be allowed, unless you are told its ok.

We use the policy on cellphones because if we do not have one in place people will use it during class. If you get caught with your cellphone in class you get a warning. Next you get it taken away and you have to bring it down to the office. If it keeps continuing you could get suspended. I think the policy is a very good idea so you can concentrate in the class.

even tho phone are viewed as a resource to help us in everyday life. In school however they can be very distracting. Study’s show that test scores from kids the age of 16 increased by 6.4% when not aloud with phones. This shows that without phones kids can focus more and do better work. Although a phone can be a good learning tool it can also be a distraction from school making kids not do as good as they would without it.

A study in 2015 “across the pond” shows us that kids who were allowed to have there devices out lost about 5 days of school. surprisingly students of the age of 14 were not much affected as usually they don’t use there phones as much as other age groups. These points show why we should not be able to have our phones out to use them unless the teacher has given permission. This article shows us that your way of the doing things with the phones is a good way because the consequences can get bad ex your phone could have to get picked you by you mom or dad this helps to show that they shouldn’t be used. I think that phones are good and can be useful but they have a higher chance of hurting your learning.

Cellphones are not to be out unless you are given permission by a teacher. Many kids do much better in school WITHOUT the use of cellphone. Because of cellphones in class some students have lost up to FIVE days of learning. You are only allowed to use you phone with permission and it has to be for school work ONLY. Some of the consequences are Warning, go to office, parents pick up your phone. To avoid this just don't take your phone out in class.

I learned a lot from looking at the cell phone policy and article. To summarize it up, the only time you are allowed to have any electronic in class is when the teacher gives you permission, otherwise you are not allowed to have it. If someone has it in class, the first time they get a warning, second time the go to the office, third time they go to the office and parents are called, fourth is a progressive discipline. Once schools in the UK banned cell phones, test scores have gone way up! Their test scores increased by 6.4% after banning phones in classrooms.

The cell phone policy is something I believe every school should have. Phones in class can cause a huge distraction to other students and can keep them from learning. The 1st time you get caught using your phone in class, you get a warning. The second time you're caught, you get sent to the office to turn in your phone. The third time, you get sent to the office and your parent/guardian must come pick up your device. The last time, you get sent to the office with progressive discipline.

A warning is given for first time and 2nd time you have to leave it in the office 3rd is a parent has to pick it up so don’t use your phone in class

Phones are not to use phones during a class period without expressed permission from the teacher. You will first get a warning. if it happens again your phone will sit in the office until the rest of the day, if it happens three times parents are called, if you fail four times to not use your phone, you will be sent to the office progressive discipline. In a study done in the U.K, students found not looking at there phone during class increased test scores. (big surprise)

Our policy is the first time you are given a warning, second time it is sent to the office but you can get it back, third time it is sent to the office and your parents have to get it, and the fourth time it is progressive discipline. I also learned that students loose 5 days of school every year. Phones can be helpful but they are also very distracting to students.

1) We are not allowed to use our phones during class unless the teacher gives a student permission to do so for a class project or other school related work. 2) If a student is found using their phone in class with out permission from the teacher, the student will be given a warning and asked to put their mobile device away. 3) If this happens a 2nd time, the student will be sent to the front office with their phones to turn it in and promptly sent back to class. 4) If this occurs yet another time, the student will yet again be sent to the front office to turn in the phone, but will have to have their parent/guardian come and pick up the phone at the end of the day or when ever it is most convenient for the adult. 5) The 4th and final time this happens, the student will be sent down to the office for 'Progressive Discipline'.

90.3% of teens in the U.K. Have a mobile phone. That was a big reason why they decided to do the test in England since of the popularity of mobile phones there. When they put a ban on phones at the schools they saw a raise of 6% in test scores. Which was a big leap from the year before. They also chose the U.K. Because only 70% of teens in the U.S have phones

The cell phone policy at petoskey middle school is different for every classroom. The reason I believe that it is prohibited in some classes is because according to the artical students tend to learn and focus better without there cellphones. Most teachers will allow you to use your cell phone during certain times but not during work time unless used for the internet or school related thing. It’s not to strict to the point where we are not allowed to have them at all which I believe makes it a lot better for students because otherwise students would just sneak around and it would be even more of a distraction.

At Petoskey High School there is a no cell phone rule that some disagree with because you are a teen and you basically live on the Internet. Here are some reasons and benefits of having such policy in place. The main benefit is your test scores could increase up to 6.4% just by having this ban. The study that got this information was done by the Richard Murphy from the University of Texas, and Louis-Philippe Beland from Louisiana State University. The second reason why this ban is good to have for student performance is that it benefited the lowest achiever students as well and the jump was increased even more. The third reason why this ban is a good ban to have in place is that when cell phones are allowed in the class room it says "mobile phones could have negative impact on students' learning outcomes." This means that when they are allowed in the classroom, they are viewed more as a distraction than a help.

In Mr. Harris’s classroom, students aren’t allowed to use any electronics. If Mr. Harris gives permission for a student to use their phone, then it is ok, but if not, there will be punishments. The first time a student uses their phone, they will get a warning, followed by turning in their phone to the office. A third time getting caught will lead to a parent/guardian picking up the student’s phone from the office, and the fourth time will send the student to the office. This is enforced as it has been proven to improve test scores.

Reading threw the article I realized just how addictive phones can be in this day and age and just how much we as student use and rely on our phones everyday. That is why schools in Europe are trying to take action to change this. They have band all Technologies in schools and the results from this have skyrocketed students grades immensely. There are certain rules that also apply to PHS which are if you are caught with your phone in class first time you will get a warning, if caught a second time your phone will be taken away and put in the office and the third time you will take it to the office and your parents will have to come pick it up. you're also not allowed to use your phone in any classes unless teachers have given you permission but you are allowed to use them before class starts and in the hallway plus at lunch.

Electronic devices are not to be seen in any PHS math class unless a teacher specifically gives permission. In the student handbook, it states that any student who has a visible electronic in math will be sent to the office. The first time it is seen may just be a warning, the second and third time, the student will go to the office to drop off the device. The fourth and final time, the student will be sent to the office for continuous misbehavior. Cell phone use in the classroom can be a distraction and a cause of lower scores on tests.

Phones are common now-a-days, but though useful, still distracting. We have a school policy on phone usage, which is: No phones allowed during class unless given permission. The reasoning? There has been some research that when phones are banned, test scores go put as the phones get put down. Not only do test scores go up, inequality goes up too. When phones are allowed in school, it’ll harm the lower achieving and low income students the most. Though to some this isn’t fare, there is still a good outcome of higher test scores and inequality.

Students are not allowed to have a phone put in class unless approved by a teacher. If a teacher sees you with your phone or other electronic device out when you’re not supposed to they will give you a warning. The second time they will send you to the office and you will have to hand over you phone or other electronic will stay in the office till the end of the day. That last time a parent/guardian will come and take it. In the UK it’s shown that students do better in class and on their assignments when phones are banned from school.

For the cell phone policy the first time you use it when you’re not supposed to be you get a warning, however, the fourth time you get caught it will be sent to the office. Studies show that when we don’t use our phones student achievement improves, with the lower-achieveing students gaining/improving the most. Our test scores could improve by about 6.4% (possibly even more). Allowing us to use phones could harm our learning. Using phones in class are a big distraction to not only yourself but, others as well.

Then the second time you will get your phone taken to the office and you can pick it up. On your third offense your phone will be sent to the office and a parent must pick it up. The PHS requriment is that if the phone is seen you and the phone have to go to the office. 1 time your seen is a warning. 2 time you are sent to the office with your phone and get it later. With math there is no warnings. 3 time sent to the office loses all day and parent has to pick it up with a metting with the principal. 4 time you have your phone taken away and principal thing of bigger punishments for the kid.

At Phs using phones in classes are strictly not allowed unless told to, and if you are using your phone in class without permission you will first get a warning but if you continuously keep using it without permission, the consequences will get worse. But using modern technology in school is supposed to help students. So should we have phones in class?

I learned that the PHS does not allow phones to any student, unless they are given permission. There are consequences to a student if caught, the first is a warning. The second time caught is the phone is sent to the office. The third time caught is you and your phone is sent to the office with a call to your parents/guardian.The fourth time caught is a disciplinary lesson. When the phones are used in class, they are used to help you look up a "statement" that doesn't make sense. Also they can be used to do class work online including this blog comment.

While reading through the essay and the cell phone policy on the first page, I was able to learn the significance of banning phones from school and the consequences of using your phone without previous permission. When you first get caught with your phone out, all you receive is a very simple warning. On the second offense, you get your phone take away and placed in the office and same with the third offense expect your parent then have to pick it up. And after a fourth time, disciplinary action must take place. Within the article we read, test scores went up significantly when phones were banned. Also the overall time spent paying attention to lessons, increased the school year by 5 days.

We all know that it is unlawful to carry or use mobile phones at school. If you have been using the phone and you've caught a teacher using the phone, you're still warned. But later on again you'll be using the phone and get caught again to the teacher, your phone will take away to the office. And you will go to the office and also your parents will the one to get your phone. And the phone, as they could lead to distract by the class. You cannot focus on your class because your always using a phone. It's ok to use phone but not in class, you can use that when it's lunch time or even if you have a free time you can use your phone. But when the class started you can't use that, Well sometimes you can use phone if it's needed or need to search something and if the teacher allow you using the phone to research.

The no cell phone policy is a common policy in a lot of schools. The reason this rule is so enforced is because student perform better without phones. Test scores from England schools proved that having the no phone policy saves 5 school days of learning. This is huge because that is a full week of school and a lot of time saved. In Petoskey schools if you have a cell phone without permission you must give it to the teacher. If this happens a second time it goes to the office for the day. If it happens a 3rd time it is sent to the office where a parent has to pick it up. I think there should be no phones because they don’t benifit is in the classroom.

When I read the cell phone policy article I learned that the first time you get caught you only have a warning. If you get caught again The office will take your phone and you can get it back at the end of the day. If this further continues and you still have problems and you get your phone taken away a third time you will have to have a parent come in and get your phone. So phone usage can also be good because you have quick access to calculator or your notes from the previous nights homework. In all I learned that having your phone could be more of a distraction than a helpfull resource.

After reading this I have a much better understanding on why we dont allow phones all the time.In the study it said that without phones scores increased 6.4%. This is a big deal and that is why we have the rules. The rules are no phone during class hours without permission. I do think that they can help sometimes though for looking stuff up or to go on a web page. When I was done reading this I had a much better explanation on why we can't use our phones.

These days, phone and technology overall is quite important in our daily lives... maybe not so much for posting on instagram or for snap chatting someone, but there are many tools on phones. However, in math class (and other classes), cellphones and different technology is strictly prohibited to be used in class... unless said otherwise by the teacher. if disobeyed, students will immediately get sent to the office with their device. Students without their phones in class actually were proven to be more successful. There was a study in England showing that by having no phones on school premises, they gained an equivalent to 5 days more of school.

Phones are strictly prohibited on school grounds without. If you use your phone during instructional time, it will be sent to the office. Further action will be taken the more you break this rule. Scientists say allowing phones in class pulls back learning by 5 days.

Phones aren’t allowed in school to keep students focused and on task. Of course, phones can be useful for some things, but they should not be used in school. Teens get too distracted by social media. In Petoskey High school, when you get caught with your phone once, you will get a warning. The more you disobey this rule the worse the punishment is.

In Petoskey high school we are not allowed to have phones in classes. Teaches say they are a distraction. But when student have their phones out, their grades rose and add 5 extra day in school. Also the average score has increase by 6.4%. So phone seems like it is ok to have them out during classes.

I learned that if you are seen with your phone in class than your phone is sent down to the office immediately. I also learned that the first time that your phone is out you'll get a warning and the more you do that the worse it gets. I learned that we can you our devices if the teacher wants us to use them for specific reasons. Your phone is banned from class because it can distract you from doing classwork. it also can distract people around you!

While reading Mr. Harris’s website is the phone consequences procedure. The first thing that will happen is that you will get a warning. A second time offender will be sent to the office and have their phone taken away. The third time you will be be sent to the office and your phone will have to be picked up by a guardian. The fourth and final time you get caught you will be sent to the office with progressive discipline. I have learned that teachers take no phones in class very seriously and I will only have it out if a teacher allows it.

While reading me Harris phone procedure I learned some valuable lessons that will help me out for the rest of my freshman year in my math class. The rules simply state that unless the teacher clearly states that you are allowed to be on your phone then it should be in your back pack. Mr Harris will also make it blatantly obvious that you are allowed to use your phone. If in the case you are not following his rule there are 4 procuderes for consequence. The 1st one will be a warning. The second will be that he takes it away and sends it to the office. The third is that he will take it to the office and your parent will have to pick it up. The final rule is you will receive a punishment from the principal which will possibly be a suspension. That is what I learned reading the phone rules of me Harris.

i have read over the policy for electronics in class and have learned when and when not i can have my phone in class. You are only allowed to have your phone in class if the teacher says can. If your not allowed to have it out then it should be in your backpack or locker on silent. If you don't follow these rules you get a warning the fist time. the second time your phone gets taken away and you get sent to the office. By the third time you will have to take your phone to the office so they can call your parents to pick it up. If you still don't listen you will be given a punishment from the principal.
